When can you equip items in Munchkin?

You can equip/unequip Items at any point except when you are in combat. This is true for your Big item as well as any others. (But unequipping a Big item doesn’t let you equip another one; you can only have one Big item in play at a time.)
How do items work in Munchkin?
You can carry any number of Items that are not Big, but only one Big Item. The rules state under Big Items on page 3 that: You may carry any number of Small items, but only one Big one. (Any item not marked Big is considered Small.)
What is considered an item in Munchkin?
An Item is any card with a printed Gold Piece value (including the phrase “No Value,” which means “0 Gold Pieces”). Most of them are Treasures, but some are Doors. A Treasure is any card from the Treasure deck.
How many items can you carry in Munchkin game?
Any player has the ability to carry items. However, you can only equip 1 headgear, 1 suit of armor, 1 set of footgrear, and either two 1 hand items or one 2 hand item. There are certain cards in the game that contrradict this rule- follow the card’s instructions. Items may have restrictions placed on them.
What can you do with treasure cards in Munchkin?
During combat, you can use Race and Class abilities or One-Shot Treasure cards. These cards can ocntribute to your winning effort. You cannot euipq items, sell, or trade items during combat, and you cannot play treasure cards from your hand unless the card says otherwise.
What happens when you discard items in Munchkin?
During your turn, except if you are in combat or running away, you can discard Items that have a total value of a1,000 Gold Pieces (at least). This makes you level up. If you discard 1,300 worth you do not get change for the transaction. However, if you discard 2,000 worth you level up twice. You can not sell to reach level 10.
