Unfortunately, no, it doesn’t die. “Dies” has a specific meaning: 700.4. The term dies means “is put into a graveyard from the battlefield.”
Do tokens count as dying?
Yes. A creature did die (that is, went from the battlefield to the graveyard). The fact that the token ceases to exist doesn’t matter to those abilities. Keep in mind that tokens are not cards, so an ability that refers to cards specifically (Bloodchief Ascension for example) won’t trigger from tokens dying.
Do tokens trigger death effects?

Does it destroy it? Yes you can return it to their hand; no this will not count as destroying it. “Destroy” in Magic means something very specific. What actually happens is that the token is put into their hand, and then ceases to exist the next time state-based effects are checked.

It’s a poor (and illegal) choice to use a die to represent a type of token since a die can’t be tapped. but not sure what to do once any of my tokens die. Your tokens would move the graveyard, and soon after they will cease to exist. Most people don’t bother physically moving them to the graveyard. Simply adjust the count.
