Are Fetchlands good in EDH?

They are great in EDH. One notable thing about them is that you can play any fetchland in an EDH deck, even if it’s off color. For example, you can play a Verdant Catacombs in a Simic deck.
How many fetches should a deck have?
The general rule of thumb is 8 fetches for any 3 color deck with an overlap of your strongest colors. In Grixis for example, it is very common to run 4 Scalding Tarn and 4 Polluted Delta because Island is the most important land you need to get.

The basic rule of thumb is that you play 17-18 lands in a 40 card deck, and 24 lands in a 60 card deck. If you are playing more than a couple cards with mana costs of five or higher, increase the number of lands.

Shocklands (which allow you to “Shock” yourself in order to get an untapped land) have many advantages: Good color depth without loss of tempo. Oftentimes, getting your land into play untapped is worth two life; shocklands give you the option to set that up. Excellent color-fixing with fetch effects.
Is it worth it to buy Fetchlands?
They’re worth the price to competitive players because they’re the best lands to use, and competitive players are trying to optimize their decks. If you’re on a budget, you could always build BW warriors which is tier 2 but still competitive for FNM.
Why is polluted Delta so expensive?
They are extremely rare, only one expedition in something like 140 boosters, which is the main reason for the price tag. The prices are pretty stable at this point, there was just a big buyout a couple months ago.
